Lindsay Kallman, MPH
Co-Founder and Executive Director
Lindsay Kallman is a public health specialist, activist, and social justice organizer with over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. As co-founder and Executive Director of Community Spring, she works to break the cycle of poverty and build community power in Gainesville, Florida.
A third-generation Gainesville native, Lindsay’s deep commitment to her community drives her work. She holds a Master of Public Health in global health epidemiology from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in religion from Davidson College.
Lindsay has specialized in building sustainable programs that address systemic inequities, particularly those tied to poverty and incarceration. Her expertise spans communications, program management, fundraising, and capacity building.
Under her leadership, Community Spring has launched initiatives like a policy fellowship for people impacted by poverty and a guaranteed income program for individuals recently released from prison. She has raised over $3.5 million to support efforts to dismantle poverty and reduce incarceration. One such initiative, Just Income, has distributed over $1 million directly to people returning from prison, resulting in a 31% lower recidivism rate. The organization’s work has garnered national and international attention from major media outlets, including NPR, Forbes, ABC News, The Guardian, Business Insider, and The Chronicle of Philanthropy.
Lindsay is also a public speaker, invited to conferences and events across the country to discuss poverty, economic justice, and community-driven solutions.
